ECONOMIC BLESSING: ISRAEL. DEUT. 28, PSALM 91
YOUR ECONOMIC BLESSING

By simply using the term, “economic blessing,” I realize for many, the alarm bells are going off. The subject of prosperity and economic blessing is one of the most abused and exploited topics in the Scripture. Yet, the reality is the “economic blessing” and prosperity, as defined by God and not man, is a promise from God to His people. First, it should be stated that true Biblical prosperity may or may not have anything to do with economic prosperity.
There are millions of people who are prosperous who would be considered poor or struggling and there are many people who are very wealthy who are not truly prosperous. Money does not bring happiness, being right with God does! There are many poor people who do not love God and many wealthy people who do love God. The point is that we cannot make generalized statements regarding prosperity and economic blessing. Furthermore, being poor is not a sign of Godliness and being wealthy is not a sign that you are living right with God.
In a time of global economic chaos where many people are suffering financially, losing their homes and jobs, God has an answer for you and He wants to bless you. The Bible says, “”It is God who gives the power to get wealth.” God can give you the power to get wealth in both recession and depression. The key problem for America and most of the nations on earth is that they do not understand that God is our Source! Millions around the world and even Christians are looking to government, political saviors, economies, and their gifts and talents to bring them wealth. God can and does use those things, but ultimately, God is our Provider.
First of all, God promises to bless the nation or individual who blesses Israel in the Abrahamic Covenant.
“I will bless those that bless thee (Israel) and curse those who curse thee (Israel).
Genesis 12:3
In Deuteronomy Chapter 28, God outlines the blessings He will pour out on Israel if they worship Him and not idols. In addition, if we diligently obey the Lord we are promised all kinds of economic blessings. Our Founding Fathers, who were pilgrims and puritans made a similar Covenant with God concerning America. In Deuteronomy 28:1-2 we read the key to blessing:
“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. “
In Psalm 91 we read about the protection and blessing of God:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalm 91:1-2
In Psalm 91:14-15
“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.”
The promises of God in Psalm 91 extend to financial protection. They key is that we love God and call upon Him. This promise is people who walk closely to God and persist in calling upon God and seeking His face! This is not a promise to the casual Christian.
When we call upon the Lord, He can make a way where there is no way. Nothing is impossible with God. Economists tell us that the dollar and other currencies will continue to use their value through inflation. Governments are cutting pension plans and the value of their savings is quickly dwindling away.
But, can bring supernatural provision!
1. Seek the Lord and listen to His guidance, wisdom and direction. Stop listening to the noise in your mind which preventing you from hearing the voice of God. God will guide you, give you ideas, open doors, give you favor and help you, if you listen!
2. God is not surprised by the economic chaos. He has placed in you, talents, abilities, gifts, visions and dreams. He will give you powerful economic ideas, if you are listening and willing to step out on faith.
3. Remember in the multitude of counselors is wisdom. Get in motion! Pray and then read economic and job ideas on the Internet and talk to a variety of financial counselors that you trust. Ideas and plans that will work for you will emerge.
4. Don’t just follow the crowd! God may tell you to do something which appears to be the opposite of conventional wisdom.
5. As a general rule things like gold are good investments. But, you are not to trust in Gold, but in God!
6. Never give in to a spirit of fear, depression or despair! God can and will give you supernatural help. You are not in this alone!
7. The Bible tells you to diversify your investments, so you don’t put all your money into just one thing! You must diversify applying your talents in creating or finding a job. God has made you capable of doing more than one thing.
8. Get out of debt as best you can.
9. Store up food, water and supplies for one, six months or even a year in case of food shortage.
10. Be fully prepared to live if the grid should crash and the system goes down. Don’t just say I am trusting the Lord. God gave you a brain and He expects you t use it. Develop a network of people who can help each other, so you are not alone.
