A PROPHETIC NEW YEAR: THE HOLY SPIRIT AND A WARNING TO AMERICA

A PROPHETIC NEW YEAR: THE HOLY SPIRIT AND A WARNING TO AMERICA
By Paul McGuire

As I write these words to you the horrible images of what just happened in Haiti haunt me. What happened in Haiti is a warning to America. As believers must pray for them and send them food, medical and other supplies. But, we must heed the warning that that level of catastrophe or worse could happen in here. Once again, the secular media is comparing this to a Biblical judgment. I do not know why this happened in Haiti. Although some are speculating that is because they made a pact with the Devil. I do not know whether they did or not.

But looking at the images of a “catastrophe” of Biblical proportions, I feel compelled to “blow the trumpet,” and warn America and the American Church that we are not immune to this kind of catastrophe. America has said as a nation, “we want nothing to do with God, Christians or their Bibles. They have enacted law after law driving God out of our society.

Although, there are many faithful men of God, are pulpits are filled with “men pleasers,” and the full truth is not being told to America! Apostasy and spiritual deception is spreading like a cancer in our pulpits, seminaries and churches. We live in a time when men call evil good and good evil and we have enacted it into law. In addition, we have turned our back on Israel openly violating the Abrahamic covenant which says :I will bless those who bless thee and curse those who curse thee.”

In the last days Jesus Christ said, “Men’s hearts will fail them for what is coming on the Earth. I believe 2010 is going to be a year of tremendous upheaval. This upheaval will affect weather, wars, riots, economic chaos, apostasy and the possibility of Martial Law here in the United States.

However, the Bible does not teach fatalism! Before God judged Sodom, he talked intensively with Abraham about His willingness to spare Sodom if a righteous man and woman could be found. Billy Graham said, “If God does not judge America than He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”

We are in the last days and Jesus said, “Occupy until I come.” How do we do that? God tells us in Acts Chapter 2 where Peter quotes from the Prophet Joel:
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
And on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.
I will show wonders in heaven above
And signs in the earth beneath:
Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the LORD
Shall be saved.

Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have take by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. Acts 2:1-4. 14-24

It is imperative that we repent before God, forsake our sins, fast and pray in spiritual warfare. There is a remnant in America and God is calling the remnant. 2010 is going to be a year for God’s people who are walking in the Spirit and seeking His face. But, 2010 is also going to be a year of unprecedented upheaval.
Intercede and pray for our nation and the world. Put on the full armor of God and the helmet of salvation. Without giving into to fatalism or despair, prepare yourself for upheaval as well as a great move of God! Notice how the outpouring of the Spirit in the last days causes souls to be saved. Notice the transition in verses 19-21 we read about last day events that will occur during the Tribulation Period. Acts Chapter 2 talks about the birth of the Church, the last days and emphasizes Bible prophecy and the Tribulation Period. Many people who teach on Acts 2 focus in on the outpouring of the Spirit, but they fail to recognize that souls are being as the catastrophic events of the Tribulation Period unfold.
